About Us: The Story Behind Our New York Prints

Do you remember what it was like when you first moved into your home? There was no furniture, no pictures on the walls, and nothing could stop you from making the space your own. It was chock full of one thing: possibility.

Now, think about your home today. It’s filled with items you’ve collected over the years. Although it’s your home, you can’t help but feel something is missing. A story? A conversation piece? A picture? You’re ready for a fresh new look, but where do you start?

It’s this excitement of new possibility that motivated us to create Brooklyn Prints.

It started with a New York scene captured on film

In 2009, we opened our web shop featuring a single New York photographer, Chad Gayle. He sees New York through a unique lens, using an array of cameras to share his vantage point with the world. Most importantly, he has a laser focus on the quality of each picture. He wants everyone who looks at his photographs to feel as if they’re there, in the scene. To do that, every detail must be perfectly presented on the print.

To do this, Chad primarily uses medium format and large format film as well as full frame digital equipment. He packs up his Linhof, his Hasselblad, his Leica, or his Nikon and takes to the streets to capture the essence of NYC, such as the Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park benches and the Manhattan skyline.

And he’s not alone in his passion for quality photography. Other photographers are on the streets and in the suburbs of New York finding new ways to highlight the best sides of this city’s culture on film and with digital cameras.

That’s why in 2012, he opened the shop and welcomed other New York photographers to make their photographs available. The only requirement? The images had to be of the highest quality.

Nothing is more eye-catching than a crisp, high-quality black and white photograph or scenic landscape print on your wall. Our photographs are unique. Although we offer photographs of New York landmarks and scenery, you won’t find the same tired images here. We work hard to bring you the widest selection of pictures showing off the freshest views of New York.

Our sizing is intentional. Bigger is not always better, especially when it comes to enlarging photographic images. You also won’t find large prints stretched to fit specific dimensions on Brooklyn Prints. Why? Because we are sticklers for only printing our photographs in sizes that stay true to the absolute best clarity. If it doesn’t look good printed at a certain size, we won’t offer it.

We Stand Behind Our Work

We’re proud to offer this guarantee because we stand behind the quality of our work.

Our prints are printed on fine art papers using the latest inkjet technologies. Prints 16×24 inches and smaller are printed on Epson Ultrasmooth Fine Art Paper; prints ranging in size from 20×20 up to 30×36 inches are printed on Moab Entrada Fine Art paper.

All of our printing is done in small batches and closely examined for flaws before it’s shipped.

Image Downloads

Want the digital copy of an image? Want to print our photographs with your own printer?

A limited number of items from our catalog can be downloaded. Image downloads are available in small, medium and large sizes.

  • Small images are suitable for printing as an 8×10 or 8×12 inch print;
  • Medium images can be printed as large as 12×18 inches;
  • Large images can be printed at the actual size that corresponds with the size we offer.

Image downloads expire after 5 days and cannot be downloaded more than 3 times. These are for personal and private use. They may not be resold or redistributed in electronic of physical form.

Brooklyn Prints accepts no responsibility for the quality of any prints made by a customer who has purchased an image download, and there are no refunds or returns for image downloads; all image download sales are final.


We accept all major credit cards, PayPal and personal checks. Note: If you pay with a personal check, we will not be able to process the order until the check has cleared.

Shipping & Local Delivery

All of our prints are shipped using UPS or USPS Priority mail. Choose the best option for you between UPS Ground (approximately 3-5 days for delivery), UPS 3-Day Select (delivered by the third business day) and UPS 2-Day Air (delivered by the end of the second business day.

If you live in Manhattan, we also offer local delivery for a nominal fee.


If you received an item you did not order, or the merchandise was damaged in transit, please contact us within 2-weeks (14 days) of delivery for return instructions.

Please note that we may ask for a photo from you to verify that the item or items were damaged or are not part of your order. Then, we’ll begin the process of replacing the parts of your order or providing you with a refund, including shipping costs, whichever you prefer.
